A Focus on Standards, Integration and Preparation for Growth
The HireRight Benchmarking Report 2009 revealed that organizations are responding to the business and talent management challenges they are experiencing with strategic initiatives to review standards, integrate processes, and deploy systems. In particular, many plan to review screening standards and integrate screening solutions with other key business systems. About one-third of these organizations expect the size of their workforce to increase at least 5 percent in the months to come, so these plans are sensible measures for supporting this growth.

» Review Screening Standards – Organizations are closing gaps created by inconsistencies in screening standards to increase the benefits of workforce screening programs. Some organizations plan to review and update standards to include additional background checks or expand drug and health screening. Others are advancing their programs to include their non-employee workforce—contingent, temporary, vendor, and other workers.

» Integrate Screening Programs – Further integration of workforce screening programs, plus connections with complementary systems, applications, and processes, will improve screening program inefficiency. Organizations are moving beyond the integration of background screening with drug and health screening or employment eligibility verification. More companies are integrating screening programs with compliance, onboarding, reporting, training, or security.

» Grow the Workforce – Significantly more organizations expect the size of their workforce to grow rather than decline over the next 12 months. Many organizations will resume or accelerate their recruiting efforts during 2010 as a result. Organizations that expect their workforce to remain similarly sized can benefit by improving their applicant experience, automating their screening programs, and adopting electronic forms to help them recruit superior talent.
